Our country girl Mary came to WVH in the fall of 1977 as a part-time receptionist. In 2001 she took a full-time position and now manages inventory, orders small animal medications and supplies, orders pet food diets, assists in restraint, and continues her reception work as well. We couldn't do it without Mary!
Mary and her husband, Tim, along with adorable daughter Katie, live on the family farm and are well known for raising show-quality Ayrshire cattle. Mary, being on a dairy farm all her life, can relate very well with the large animal clients, but has a soft side for the small furry friends as well.
In her free time, she loves to spend time with her family, show their cattle, garden in her perennial flower beds, and just "be outdoors". Mary comes home to her cats Mokey and Polly as well as a happy lab named Gus... and of course their beautiful Ayrshire cattle!
Robin has been with WVH since June 2015 a part-time receptionist.
Originally a Palmyra girl, she has lived with her husband Ron and their two sons - Geoff and Justin - in Whitewater for the past 29 years, making her a familiar face to our hometown clients! Robin's love for dogs and particularly the Australian Shepherd breed has brought two Aussie's into her life with Lexie being the most recent fur-child.
In her spare time, Robin enjoys spending time with her family, interior decorating, and quilting. Robin has been coming to our clinic since she was in elementary school and she is excited to now be behind the desk assisting the team that has served her family for many years!
After years of working in the corporate world, Dawn followed her lifelong passion for animals and joined the Whitewater Vet Hospital team in August 2016.
Dawn shares her home with her husband Steve, their German Shepherd Izak, a parrot named Brad, and her four cats Paloma, Gideon, Smudge, and Joey.
In her spare time, Dawn participates in training at the German Shepherd Dog Club of Wisconsin where she has been a member since 2002. She and Izak have fun working on their tracking, obedience, and rally skills. Dawn also volunteers at Touched By A Paw Cat Shelter in Whitewater, likes to go hiking, participates in yoga with cats, and enjoys just about anything that includes animals and the outdoors.
Mary Beth Miatke
Mary Beth started in June 2017 as part of our receptionist team. She is a native of Sterling, IL and moved to Whitewater where she and her husband, Michael, purchased their farm to raise their family and farm beef cattle and crops. She has always had a passion for animals and has experience with farm and companion animals. Her children are Brandi and Dalton who are grown now and share her passion for animals. Her daughter graduated from Vet School in the spring of 2017 and her son is a student at UW-Whitewater.
Mary Beth loves all animals and shares her home presently with 4 cats; Kye, Lily, Noel and Rascal. She is looking to fill her home with a new dog and misses terribly her dogs Austin (pictured with her) and Javo, and her horse Nugget, who all passed in recent years.
In her down time, she loves to be outside when warm weather arrives and loves to swim and tend to her flower beds and garden. In the cold weather months she loves to hibernate as much as possible, organize, decorate and remodel her home, learn new craft skills and read. She also loves to travel; her favorite place to be is on a beach with her family.
A native of Pennsylvania, Kathy has lived in Florida, Iowa, and Minnesota, but now calls Wisconsin home. Her love of animals may have began when her childhood dog allowed her to make him the star when playing "dress up"!
She resides on a small farm with her 5 cats (Serendipity, Isabella, Ferdinand, Tarantella, and Ramboli), 2 peacocks (Mutt & Jeff), a 23 year old bay horse named Rosie (Kathy's horse, MisAladd, is in the photo, but crossed the rainbow bridge at the age of 26), a dog named Mr. Peabody, and a handful of chickens.
In her free time she enjoys outdoor activities like riding, hunting, fishing, hiking, and gardening, and also plays piano & organ for churches and choirs! She has shown her horses for western and dressage, and also enjoys touring wineries, crafting, cooking, and interior decorating.
We were fortunate to have Doris Marsh as our bookkeeper for over 20 years. She is semi-retired (2013) from her work here at the clinic, but still makes time to come in and help out Kathy during our busiest times. Doris was one of our long time farm clients who took the job shortly after her herd was sold. She intended to help out only til she passed her CPA exams, but she stayed on! She enjoys the veterinary business and contact with farm clients.
Certified Veterinary Technicians
Dixie has been with our practice since 1995. She grew up in Whitewater and graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Madison College. She has a special interest in dog and cat behavior. Dixie works with clients having issues with their pet's behavior and is a trainer for local puppy and obedience classes.
She lives in Elkhorn with her husband Matt, and sons Nate, Ben and Cael. Her pets include a bull mastiff named Birdy, and a kitty named Rizzo (her beloved Rosie, the Golden Retriever in the photo, has crossed the rainbow bridge).
Dixie loves to ride her motorcycle in her spare time!
Sandy Lucht is also a local Whitewater girl. She graduated from Madison College in 1988 and has worked here since. She and her husband Bruce live in rural Whitewater with their daughter, Anna, and son, Matthew.
Sandy loves the surgery part of medicine the best. Currently, she works part time and spends the remainder of her time staying active in her children's school, sporting, and 4-H programs.
Sandy's interests include photography, sports, camping, kayaking, and travel.
Emily grew up in South-Western Wisconsin. She has had a passion for animals from a young age, and got her start with her family's dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, and a lamb named Peppy. She graduated from Madison College in 2013 with her Associate's degree as a Veterinary Technician and joined the team in June of 2013.
Emily lives with a talkative and goofy cat named Rudy. She has a horse named Jazzi, and two miniature horses named Dazzle and Dream who live with her parents. Pictured above is her gorgeous horse, Beauty, who has crossed the rainbow bridge. Her family also has an Australian Shepherd named Annie!
In her spare time, Emily likes to be with her family, play with her horses, be outdoors, garden, and paint.
Jennifer is originally from Belleville, WI. She showed cows for a couple of years through 4-H as a child. Her mom had horses when she was growing up. Jennifer has always loved animals. It has been her dream to work with animals and help them - that's why she chose to become a veterinary technician.
Jennifer is married and has three children. She also shares her home with three dogs and a hamster. Her dogs are Lincoln, Meg, and Tink.
Animals bring Jennifer great joy and happiness. She feels blessed to be part of the staff at Whitewater Veterinary Hospital. Jennifer joined the WVH team in February, 2018.
Leah is a junior at UW-Whitewater majoring in Biology with a pre-veterinary track. Although originally from Illinois, she prefers Wisconsin and would love to attend UW-Madison for vet school.
Back home, she has two big dogs. Kila is a Black Lab/Border Collie mix, and Ellie is a Rhodesian Ridgeback/Hound mix. She is currently fostering a Mini Satin rabbit named Brady through the Wisconsin Humane Society, but it looks like she'll be keeping him [what we like to call a foster failure :) ].
Leah joined the WVH team in November, 2017.
Cherri is a student at UW-Whitewater studying biology with a pre-med emphasis. Cherri has wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as she can remember, and working at the clinic will help fulfill that dream.
She is originally from Whitewater and has lived here most of her life. Before starting at the clinic in November 2017, Cherri milked cows at a local farm for eight years. In her free time, Cherri likes to go for walks, watch nature documentaries, and spend time with friends and family.
She has five pets at home; a Black Lab named Robert, and four cats names Ashes, Doobie, Ziggy, and Mr. Biggelsworth.
Jennifer’s love for animals started very early on. She brought the neighborhood's stray cats inside as a kid claiming them as her own, and at 17, purchased her first dog. A yellow Lab-looking mutt named Ty started her obsession. Ty, or Twyla Jones, recently passed away, which leaves Jennifer with Ty’s sister, Nekoda Jane, a Rat Terrier mix named Foxy, a French Bulldog named Spade, and a Standard Poodle named Rio. She also has two horses, Rain and Lemon Drop, which she had the pleasure showing in Reining.
In her free time, Jennifer loves taking her dogs hiking, kayaking and camping. She has a degree in Equine Science and has been grooming dogs for over 10 years.
At WVH, Jennifer can be found assisting in appointments and surgery, and is also our groomer. She joined the team in January, 2018.
